Staying Grounded When Things Get Heated

  • Collett Street Recreation Department 300 Collett Street Morganton, NC, 28655 United States (map)

This 90-minute workshop is for people who want to stay steady and think clearly when situations get tense, confusing, or emotionally charged. Whether you’re dealing with difficult conversations, uncertainty, strong opinions, or moments that test your patience, this session focuses on practical skills that help you keep your footing.

Rather than debating issues or replaying stressful scenarios, we’ll work on inner skills that matter across many parts of life: noticing when stress is starting to take over, staying present with strong reactions without acting on them right away, and becoming less easily pulled into other people’s emotions or behavior. The aim is not to suppress feelings, but to create enough internal space to respond deliberately instead of automatically.

There is no role-play and no discussion of specific conflicts. You’re welcome to participate actively or simply listen. This is not therapy or action training. It’s a practical session focused on building calm clear-headedness you can draw on in everyday situations — at work, in community life, and at home.
