In 2017, Timothy Snyder, one of the world’s most prominent historians and a professor at Yale University, wrote the book On Tyranny, a guide to surviving and resisting America’s turn toward authoritarianism. The book was published just after the 2016 presidential election; it remains an important handbook today as we learn to preserve our freedoms during dark and uncertain times.

This promises to be a thought-provoking and enlightening discussion led by Dr. Rand Brandes, a retired professor at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Dr. Brandes has led similar gatherings in Hickory and the surrounding region.
